Solid SUV Overall
"I was rescued out of deep snow over slippery ice on a moderate off-road trail here in Gunnison, Colorado by this capable SUV. The added center-differential lock feature of this year's 4Runner was one of the reasons I bought it, and I was impressed with how well it performed. 4WD works well in most off-road situations but when it comes to show and ice, a diff-lock was what I needed to get me out and this 4runner delivered. Some of the lesser point about the vehicle are: •Fuel economy is not the greatest. Be prepared to spend more at the pump. •Engine is slow to warm up and in cold climates the heater is also not as hot as I'd like it. •The windshield has a tendency to receive stone chips as confirmed by my auto glass shop who keeps them in stock. •When I went to replace the stereo, I was delighted to discover that a touch screen head-unit fit perfectly within the consul opening without any added basel and/or brackets. The down side was that the door panels required a lot of work to dampen when new speakers were installed to eliminate rattles and vibrations. Aftermarket speakers also required new mounts in order to fit behind door panels. •This vehicle has a few trim assemblies that do not align well from the factory i.e. rear hatch window lifter assembly, fog lights. Overall though, the SUV has a solid feel and smooth ride on and off-road. It's turning radius is tight. It has good towing capacity for anything you want to haul. For an 18 year old 4runner, and being its 6th owner, I am happy with my purchase and will continue to own and maintain it for another 18 years or as long as it keeps being a solid SUV overall. "

"Great truck! Engine runs well, there's more than enough room for my 105lbs & 80lbs labs, and comfortable for their wife. What more can you ask for!!"

"I was looking for a 4Runner for a long time. I plan to take it to Colorado and use it as an extra vehicle there, especially for the snow. Even though it had high mileage (206,456) a well maintained Toyota will last a LONG time. I love it. It is like a rescue dog."

"We had a 97 Suburban for many years and loved the space and the utility as we were raising our 3 kids. When it was totalled a year ago, we decided we would downsize since our kids are driving their own vehicles now. We bought a Honda Accord thinking we would save lots of money on gas. Well yes, we saved some money, but it just wasn't practical for us. Even though our kids are bigger and driving their own cars, if we ever want to go somewhere together or take our dogs with us, we just couldn't fit in a car. We love the 4runner because we think it will last a really long time, it isn't huge like a full size suv, but it gives us space for our family, our dogs, or hauling things."
