An available 3.7-liter V6 produces 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a four-speed automatic is available. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and two four-wheel-drive systems are offered.
Fuel economy is rated at up to 17/22 mpg city/highway.
The 2002 Liberty has trouble matching the competition when it comes to infotainment and safety features. A six-speaker audio system, a CD player, a 12-volt power outlet and an AM/FM stereo radio are standard. Available features include remote keyless entry, a power outlet in the cargo area, an Infinity premium audio system, steering-wheel-mounted controls and a universal garage door opener.
