Best Winter Beater a young DIY-er could ask for
"As a chronically broke young adult, acquired my first vehicle with no problems, as well as an upgrade from a passenger car. I taught myself a variety of mechanical knowledge of maintenance and often drained my bank account to pathetic levels keeping up with care of the old fella, but it's always been worth it. The suspension issues were a result of original shocks kept no replaced, and a fender bender from previous owner. It leaks everything, window regulators are junk design, and the thing is a bucket of rust in a place of harsh winters. But there isn't a better mud truck or winter beater to be asked for. It has the muscle, design, features I require. I need no truck bed and the collapsible seats offer all the storage space I ever need, and the trailer hitch if I ever tackle any bigger job. The perfect size for me, with maintenance I can manage myself with minimal equipment. It has all the dipsticks missing on all recent vehicles. I figured the real reason we own cars is to have fun, and I feel like there's nowhere I can go when I'm in it. Tight cornering and nimble like no other truck, but with a truck engine. 4WD and ground clearance make it fuel thirsty, but rugged and versatile that i don't foresee anything in the price group it is in compare. I keep fresh fluids up, cleaning and changing oil often, and it hadnt quit on me yet. - 03 liberty sport with 3.7L engine"

Expensive, but better than a new car payment. After so much of it is replaced, it ceased being another cheap chrysler. But that's a lot of love I gave it many wouldn't want to.

"I bought the Jeep Liberty because my wife already has one in another state where she has a Liberty and loves it. It has a powerful six cylinder engine and a good four wheel drive. I used Carfax to buy that vehicle and the information was useful in negotiating. This time the Carfax info showed me that the vehicle had been hardly driven in eight months and I was able to use that information to confirm that there were brake issues that even the dealer did not realize. I was able to negotiate to get them fixed. Carfax helped me to feel confident that I knew what I was buying. The Liberty is a good all purpose vehicle that can handle winter weather. This is my sixth Jeep over 40 years and I have loved then all. I still have four of them."

"Needed 4WD as we are moving to hilly, snowy place. Very impressed with every aspect of the Jeep. We also bought a 03 Liberty Limited. "

"I wanted a 5sp Jeep Cherokee or wrangler but was tired of prices people were asking. I settled on a Liberty and its great, wish I had bought one sooner. I replaced a Cherokee that I had for years. "

"I owned this liberty for 6 months. I loved the way it handled. I'm a jeep girl but have always had wranglers and grand Cherokees in the past. It was fun and easy to get into tight spaces. It was also a huge lemon. We had nothing but issues with it's mechanics. Everything including the electronics, motor and heat and air system. It constantly had some kind of issue. After checking it's safety ratings we did not feel safe driving it either. Don't buy!!!!!!"
