Great car, if your willing to put the money
"the w220 chassis is great model s class as long as you buy the facelift models, it is very reliable when properly maintain and it is an excellent cruiser. Unfortunately as time goes by it becomes more apparent how outdated is infotainment system are. As long as you can live with this having a properly maintain one is very rewarding."
Interior

Many convenience features that would rival most well equipped new cars today at a very low premium.
Exterior

5.0

The styling on this model has in my opinion withstood the test of time.
Performance

3.0

At 305 horses the 5.0L engine will give some trills and won’t have trouble getting to highway speeds easily but since it is hauling almost two tons is not quite a sports car but then again is not meant to be one.

It can accommodate up to five people comfortably and has plenty of trunk space which should make it practical

Most of this models are unfortunately not well taken care of so if you buy a poorly maintained one you will hate it. That’s not to say if you buy a well maintain model it will be trouble free either expect to pay high prices for repairs but at least in my experience the car rarely breaks down.

Surprising Value
"This is a California car, manufactured in Germany. I bought it used as a temporary car shortly after moving to California. It had 185,000 miles under a single owner. It was routinely maintained at the same dealership. After a while, I realized this was a great ride. I appreciate the safety features, suspension, and general reliability. I am thinking of keeping it as my everyday car."

It adapts well to the city, highways, and winding mountain roads around Lake Tahoe.

My wife has vision issues. I feel secure with her driving this car. This model has an extended frame so it is roomy.

I change the oil every 3,000 miles and oil changes for this car are expensive. I found a privately owned Mercedes repair shop. That makes upkeep reasonable.

Fortress of solitude
"I have only owned this car for a couple of weeks. I bought it used from a body shop with a salvage title. Think: Rolling Fortress - that is what it is like to drive an S class. Smoothest ride I have ever experienced. Total luxury. Total safety. I don't want to think about the cost of repairs. "
