"The 996 GT3 was under appreciated by the market for many years because it shares the front with the Boxster. Overlooked is the fact that it has the Mezger engine, which won LeMans 7 times. The car handles better than the 997 and the car is still attainable financially but the market is starting to move up on these cars. There were few enough produced ~2,500 to almost guaranty solid appreciation in the long run. 381hp and 8,200rpm require a confident and experienced driver.
Wikipedia says the following about the car:
"Walter Röhrl completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the 996 GT3 in 7 minutes 56 seconds."
Personally, I love the car. When maintained properly the car is bulletproof and compared newer GT3's it's handling is far more involving and direct, which I enjoy. Buy one before they go the way of the RS America!"
