NO SUBSTITUTE !
"A many time owner of the air cooled Porsche 911's beginning in 1972 to my last air cooled a 1980 3.0 SC, the water cooled are much more Porsche for less money. I own the C4S and it's a beast that you can truly enjoy both on the interstate highway or up our challenging mountain highway to Lake Tahoe Nevada."

Could have done more on the 1999 to 2004 to make it a bit dressier!

Can't break it loose like the older air cooled. All wheel drive is a must for edging out the true performance of this Porsche!

"The 996 GT3 was under appreciated by the market for many years because it shares the front with the Boxster. Overlooked is the fact that it has the Mezger engine, which won LeMans 7 times. The car handles better than the 997 and the car is still attainable financially but the market is starting to move up on these cars. There were few enough produced ~2,500 to almost guaranty solid appreciation in the long run. 381hp and 8,200rpm require a confident and experienced driver. Wikipedia says the following about the car: "Walter Röhrl completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the 996 GT3 in 7 minutes 56 seconds." Personally, I love the car. When maintained properly the car is bulletproof and compared newer GT3's it's handling is far more involving and direct, which I enjoy. Buy one before they go the way of the RS America!"

At 6'6" i need a car without a sunroof. I fit comfortably into the GT3. The seats are supportive and driving position is excellent. The interior cannot be compared to newer GT3's but it is completely functional and I enjoy that era of automotive history.

This car has no rear seats. It is a drivers car.

Bargain for a Porsche. Attainable to purchase (still) and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Check for Overrevs and make sure the car has not been raced. Check for signs of a previous installation of a roll cage.

Awesome performance. I love the progressive non turbo acceleration of the Mezger engine.
