User Reviews for 2004 Toyota 4Runner
by Yale on June 9, 2019
"The fourth generation Toyota 4runners are awesome vehicles. Reliable and run forever. Only problem is the v6 engines head gasket can go at 150k miles. If I had to do it over I would have held out for a good V8."
Simple interior, dated by 2019 but easy to modify. Seats aren’t super comfy but you can modify pretty easily.
Beautiful cars. Awesome design for all generations.
Not fast or quick but will get you where you have to go, even 2wd will cross rivers.
Not great gas mileage. If your head gasket goes it’s a brutal fix, but you shouldn’t have any other problems. Can drive these cars forever.
"I bought this vehicle because I needed to have some space for my dog and bike(s). I will eventually have a hitch mounted bike rack on it, but for the price and the condition I couldn't pass this up. It is a solid vehicle and is a good balance between a truck and a crossover. I once had a 2007 Nissan Xterra and this is very similar to that in the way it feels and handles. Both with roughly the same engine (4.0L V6). I'm hoping to have this vehicle until it's dead or falls apart (since I live in the rust belt). "
"Bought this truck used, it had been well taken care of despite beginning its life in New Hampshire. Purchased with 150K miles on it and it is still tight-as-a-tick! I love it and intend to put another 150K on it!"
" Great vehicle! Sounds and runs excellent. This is my second 4runner in this body style. Extremely successful longevity and safe vehicle. I bought this in Houston with 1 owner. Great price and great experience with this broker. Would buy from here again.
"2004 limited 4.7 V8. Basically a Lexus GX470 with toyota badges. Fit and finish, reliability and overall looks are FAR superior over any other make. If you want a car that will last forever go Toyota or Lexus. "
High quality leather trim. Easy to use buttons and attention to details
Looks are so much better on this generation than the new ones. The new body style looks like a mommy mobile not an offroad vehicle.
4.7 V8 offers plenty of power.
Gas and oil changes are all you can really expect to pay. Mechanics hate toyotas.
"While shopping I was surprised at how well the 4runner (any year) seems keeps its value. If you find a deal, buy it as an investment. Great ride, motor (6cyl), roomy and comfortable, and Toyota quality... "
Well layed out and roomy for a small SUV. A/C in rear.
"I checked out a lot of cars. This was a gem. Runs great. Body is clean and the interior is spotless. I added a $400 touchscreen with bluetooth, DVD player, and even wifi mirroring built in. Has a built in USB charging station in the glove compartment and a nice trailer hitch. I have done all the maintaince at the dealer and even they have commented on what amazing condition it's in."
A little paint fading in one side where it must have been parked regularly, but still excellent. Body is flawless.
4-doors, a huge back, and a trailer hitch. Family fun for days.
I looked at a lot of cars, this was the best one, and I bargained them down to a great price.
"I love my 4Runner! The 4.0 V6 is so powerful and peppy. Best car I've ever owned. It had 144k miles and still feels like a brand new car. The 4x4 is solid and powerful.

"I purchased a 2004 4Runner Limited (V8 4WD) in 2008 with only 26K miles. Now, in 2015 it has 120K on the odometer without a single issue. I bought this car because I knew that it would have a good resale value. I've held on to it even longer because it's still a great truck. It's 4WD capabilities keep our whole family safe and secure. It rides great and is very well built! If you get a chance to buy a V8 4Runner, do it! Don't hesitate! Best car I ever owned." Read Less
