Durable and reliable
"Bought my '05 GX 470 in December of 2017 with 128k on it. It's now July of '19, and I have roughly 153k on it. The vehicle is everything it's supposed to be; tough, reliable, smooth, quiet, and thirsty. General maintenance and oil changes, and it runs like a clock. AWD is so good, I rarely have to shift into 4wd during snow. The only drawback about this vehicle is that it's quite thirsty. Roughly 15-17 mpg, overall. 23 gallon tank, and the V8 requires 93 octane. That being said, I knew this before I bought it. I'm still very happy with the overall performance of my GX."

Very comfortable leather with heated seats. Cargo size is perfect for me.
Exterior

3.0

It's a little boxy and high profile, but overall, it's attractive, I suppose.

93 octane in the V8. Being that it's smaller and lighter than the LX, the engine has good pickup. No problem merging/passing on the freeway. A tad bit thirsty, though.

3rd row, and rear DVD player are great family features. When using the 3rd row, it basically eliminates any cargo room, though.

Not cost effective from a fuel consumption perspective, but reliable, and I expect the resale value to be solid, as with all Lexus products.

Great value for the money.
"The reliability ratings on this model are stellar, and it still drives like it's new so I expect that to continue for a while. It has plenty of power for freeway merging and towing and plenty of room for hauling around the kids. There's not as much room in the back seats as you might find in a car-based SUV, but you also don't get the off-road capability of a Land Cruiser with those. It's a trade-off I'm willing to make, but your mileage may vary. So far parts and maintenance have been surprisingly affordable since it shares a lot of parts with other Toyota makes. The only real design flaw is that the back door hinge is on the wrong side of the car. It should open on the right for American buyers and that particular design tweak didn't make the transition from Japan where they drive on the other side of the road. "

Subtly luxurious, nothing flashy but everything you need.
Exterior

Holding up surprisingly well for being more than 10 years old.

Outpaced by newer models, but really how much power do you need?

Back seats of a minivan are larger, but you can get all the kids into this thing.

Surprisingly affordable for the level of performance and luxury you get.

"I wanted a good off road family vehicle. Seats 8 and is super luxurious. It has tons of power. I lifted mine 3in and get 17-18mpg. Super quiet interior. "

"Awesome vehicle. Very well built. Big tow rating, airbag suspension in the rear does the job nicely. Son of landcruiser in the rest of world. "
