User Reviews for 2005 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Fantastic Car, Horrible Suspension
"I love this car. I’ve owned it for a few years, originally I was just going to sell it for a newer car, but I fell in love with it and kept it. The only thing I hate about it is it’s Airmatic suspension. It’s so very comfortable, when it works. When it doesn’t work, it’s a constant battle to try and get it working again or spending a ton of money at the dealer. Thankfully you can switch over to just regular coil overs, but I’m a glutton for punishment at this point so I’ll keep it up.
Other than the suspension, everything about it is fantastic!"

For a 2005, it’s interior is very modern and luxurious. It’s tech holds up pretty well. It’s very practical too, which I love about it. It’s not super over the top like the new S’s are, just good quality old German luxury.
I love it’s low key look, not super in your face, again just old German luxury.
I have the S500 4MATIC. That engine is great and powerful enough to be super quick, but demure enough to not be outrageous
At the time, it was one of the safest cars in the world with its plethora of airbags and PRE-SAFE system. Now, it’s been surpassed, but even by modern standards it’s still VERY good. The lack of tech might bore some kids, but there’s plenty of space in the back for them to do whatever.
These are $100k cars that you can get for under $10k. That’s a lot of car for your money, but repairs and maintenance are still up there. A lot of the parts for these cars are surprisingly cheap, and working on them is also surprisingly VERY easy. But the suspension system is one of the major expenses when it inevitably breaks again and again.
Not to mention the terrible mpg (around 16 for me) and the $100+ oil changes.
