Love this SUV
"This model is by far my favorite body style of Tahoe’s. The 4x4 works amazingly even with subpar tires. The interior may leave something to be desired, but to be fair, it is now 2020, so for a 13 year old vehicle it’s really not bad. Especially regarding the tech. However, the upholstery has held up well! It still looks brand new and unworn. Pretty much the only negative I have is the aux input is MUCH quieter than the radio. Most likely due to some grounding issues within the head unit. I wouldn’t add this bit, except that I have researched this problem and it seems to be pretty prevalent with these Tahoe’s. "

The upholstery has held up amazingly over the last 13 years of its life. Great quality. The head unit (radio) has some grounding issues on the aux input which took a star away.

It responds to the pedal very well. Feels like it has great get up and go. The 4X4 works perfectly!

Let’s face it. These are more expensive than their dodge and ford counterparts. And the v8 engine drinks a lot of gas. But, I feel the money is well invested. And if things DO go wrong, parts are relatively cheap. But fuel efficiency and average cost still put this at 3 stars.

Shooting for half million miles
"Driven Chevys since 1986. Mostly Silverados. This Tahoe has 389,000 miles with a new trans put in at 299K and engine at 349K. Keep it clean. Service guys always tell me my odometer must be wrong because it looks so good inside and out. Honestly the best vehicle I have ever owned. "

Averages only 17 mph around here. But have made up for that by not having to go in for a lot of repairs.

Signs of flood damage
"We bought this truck because a silver tongued salesman got my husband all lathered up over it. It used to be a law enforcement vehicle, and you can still see the outlines of the old unit number on the top of it. Nothing on this truck works right, and it spent the first two weeks after we bought it in the shop eating our budget. There is corrosion inside the cab even up in the dashboard, which is typically a red flag for a vehicle that was damaged in a flood, but there was no indication of this in the carfax report we received for it, so we are unsure of the cause of the excesive corrosion in all of the electrical connections and metal surfaces inside the truck. We are still chasing down Gremlins, and likely will be for a long time. All of that said, the suspension system is fabulous, the body is decent, the engine is tight and the tranny is smooth despite a wee bit of spongines. It's got good bones. "

Originally the dealer we bought it from billed it as leather upholstry but they put these leather seat covers in it that fit so well we didn't realize it wasn't leather upholstry until after we bought it.
Exterior

Headlights don't function completely right, heater controls don't work, it was in desperate need of an oil change when it got home, back door leaks in the rain spent the first two weeks in the shop

We got a good price on the sale, about $5k under market value, which is good since we immediately dumped over $1k into it in repairs, but it was acting up when we bought it. It eats gas like there's no tomorrow, thankfully we don't drive it more than about 20 miles a day, except for specail family trips.

Chevy Tahoe
"I did not buy this vehicle because 1) The steering is hyperreactive 2) the instrument panel was VERY difficult to see. The backlight at night did not illuminate enough to read the gauges. The glare during the day also kept me from reading the gauges. I considered both of those attributes safety hazards as I could not read the speedometer, etc, and the oversteering problem could cause an accident because of swerving. Other than that it performed fine."
