Just enough embedded tech
"This is a great car. later versions like the 2010 one, have tech solutions to problems we don't have. Cluttering up the instrument panel can be a distraction for elder folks like us. This car has all the features most important to us including easy entry and exit, not requiring squatting or head bumping. The air conditioning is terrific (its a hot time just now during this report). This model has a moon roof that opens and we look forward to doing that when the weather cools off. In the mean time, there is an interior roof cover preventing the sun from cooking up the cabin while parked outside. The paint is unusual, a cream that makes the car more easy to discover in large parking lots. We were sold on the Edge although we looked at other brands of SUV-s during out shopping. We are very happy about our purchase."

Car was in great mechanical shape when we got it. I don't expect any major expenses in the near future. We got a Basic Warranty to cover any major system failures should they blossom.

After owning this car for 12yrs and making only a few repairs it has been extremely cost effective for us! We only financed it for 3yrs so we have had very low cost the last 9yrs!

PROBLEMS
"I like the Ford Edge, however certain model years, including mine, have some serious problems which Ford has refused to issue a recall. Due to a design flaw, plus and ignition coils 1-3 are located next to the firewall, are covered by the intake manifold which causes these plus and coil to overheat and melt. This in turn damages the Power Control Module (PCM). The vehicle then either won't run, or runs rough, and may stall while on the highway, a serious safety risk. Ford is aware of this problem, by refuses to issue a recall for ALL vehicles affected by this defect. I believe it affects Ford Edge vehicles through model year 2011. Not sure if models years after 2011 have the same problem."

Best Car Ever
"I bought this vehicle in 2008 with 5,000 miles on it. It is now 2019 and that car is still kicking with 289,000 miles. Now it’s time for an upgrade and I’m having an extremely difficult time letting go of my car that I’ve affectionately named “Creamora”. This car has accommodated my every need from toting a grandchild to moving pieces of furniture. "

"Low maintenance excellent running family vehicle. With regular routine maintenance these vehicles will run forever. With over 200k miles on mine, it does not leak a drop of oil and has not required any major repairs. "
