"We have a very steep, non-paved driveway on the ocean with severe winter weather. 4 wheel drive is a must. Our 1996 Land Cruiser was our only way in or out of our house in the winter so we needed a second one. After driving a Land Cruiser, we didn't want to go "down" to other cars. We don't like the more "car" feel of the 2007 and prefer the feel of the 1996, but sure do like the heated seats, cup holders, navigation system and other more "modern" (to us) features. Certainly no need to buy a brand new one - 9 years old is fine. Our other one is fine and is 20 years old and we've done almost nothing to it. If buying a 2007 Land Cruiser, be sure that the timing belt (yes, it has a belt) has been replaced. We bargained for that in our pricing since it hadn't been done. Also be sure to get 2 master keys, and check to be sure DVD players have the remotes as they won't work without the original. Also check the spare tire to be sure the release works, as well as the parking brake, which apparently a lot of people don't use and let rust.
