Too many Torque Converters
"I love the way this car drives and handles. The down side is at -82k miles the torque converter needed to be replaced to the tune of $2220. The month previously it had brake work and a thermostat installed for $2400. They are great cars, fit and finish are superb, but you better be prepared for some hefty repair bills. This is currently a $10k car if I were to sell it."

The interior is exceptional in its fit and finish. Comfortable, posh and very quiet for a 4 cylinder.

My A4 Quatro has the S-Line package so it does turn some heads. This is an 08 vehicle and there is no rust anywhere and it sparkles still. Nice lines and fit and finish is excellent. The only area that shows any wear are in the lug nut surround area on the wheels where they are de-laminating a bit.

This little 2.0L FSI turbo loves to run. I am not a racer at 70 yrs old, but it cruises silently at 80 mph on the highway at about 2400 RPM. Gas mileage is very reasonable, easily exceeding 30 MPG on the road, and it will pull like a V6 if you ask it to. Very pleasing to drive with no body roll, and it corners like it is on rails. Very precise steering.

While a smaller vehicle it is exceptionally comfortable. It easily carries 4 adults and has plenty of leg room both front and back. The seats are superbly comfortable and it has electronics galore. My family love it and we have several other vehicles that are always a second choice.

As I had said, when you need maintenance it is costly. Parts are not bad, but the labor is horrendous as things are a little crowded in the engine bay. As an example, a $60 dollar thermostat housing cost +3 hrs of labor at $105 an hour. I would also recommend that you find a shop that specializes in the Audi / VW line of cars. If a mechanic is not really familiar with these cars parts can easily be installed incorrectly, leading to more headaches. The good thing is that these cars will run 200k miles easily if maintained correctly. If you are purchasing a used one I would advise taking it to an Audi specific shop for a once over. You will also want to drive it from dead cold. The torque converter problem will only show itself until the car warms up. Surging up and down until warm. Also a cheap preemptive move would be to have the cam follower replaced every 60k miles. It will save you replacing your cam shafts when it fails. This is for pre 2012 2.0L FSI engined vehicles .

"Although I have only owned the car for a short time, I am very happy with all of the features it offers. In addition, the gas milage has been great ( 31+ on the highway) and the ride is very smooth."
