Take your time
"Get the one you want. Lots of Vipers out there so go drive them. When you decide on the year you want, test drive them so you know what they should handle, drive, and sound like. Also call the local Dodge dealer for a Certified Viper tech to check the car when you go see it because things that need attention can add up with these cars. They can be very expensive to have repaired and also expensive just to buy parts for you to repair or maintain it. From the time I was ready to buy, to when I found the right one for me, was 3 years. Vipers are NOT rare, however, any specific generation, regarding color, rims, interior colors, etc., are rare. If you want a stripe delete Viper Blue 08-10 roadster model, there were only 30 of them made, so it will take a while for one to come up for sale, but it won't be the only one. If you want a purple 08 model, you might be buying the first one that comes up unless you are ok with waiting 2 or 3 years to get it. Some color combos are limited to one or just a few. A decent number of Viper owners can own half a dozen exotics. They do not need the money any more than they need to drive the Viper over the Lambo that week. Remember, go drive every one of them you are interested in, even if you have to catch a flight or drive 10 hours, so you know what to expect when they are working correctly. Any day of the week that you want to buy a black Vette you will have your choice of dozens of the generation you would like if not hundreds. The same Viper of that generation may come up 7 times in 2 years. Some will have accident history. That leaves 4 of them. Google the production numbers. Also, it's not your "baby". It's mean, nasty, and dangerous. Man up. Good luck. "

It's a Viper interior. The newer the model, the less the room. Why? They are track cars. Heel toe, foot on the clutch. Hard top GT cars can be impossible for some to get into if gen 4 or newer. Height not so much as width is the problem. You get used to it quickly. Why? It's a Viper!

It's a Viper. It is dangerous. You need to learn how to drive it or you will be a YouTube video that everyone laughs at. Worse yet, you will be responsible for losing a rare car that is cooler than you will ever be.

Ya right! I guess you could put a baby seat in there. Your daughter might let you drop her off at school again. If you don't have any kids there is room for your wife. Technically that's a family. Your family will know where to find you if they need attention. You will be in the garage with your Viper. It does have that princess seat for the parade on the deck behind you..... so that's something to cross off the bucket list I guess. Family event technically.

No! Well...… for an exotic supercar, which it is, it is a good deal. You can work on it yourself with the proper knowledge. Some parts are expensive but it is built like a tank. A tank that goes 200mph. Get in and drive. No ten thousand dollar a year maintenance fraud like Italian or European models. Viper techs are 170-185 an hour though if you need them. Setting all this aside, how many cars go 200mph that you know of? That you can afford if you ain't rich? I took a loan on my 401K and dropped the percentage applied to it to pay it back. Then I took an 84 month loan from my credit union and got a second job to pay that off. Using guy math, that's a free Viper! (this is where the lame smiley face would normally be...... I say imagine an angry hissing viper that wants to kill you here instead) Might not be comforting to some, but it's comforting to me. Come to the dark side.
