Solid Mid-Size Crossover
"I have a 2008 Ford Edge Limited w/ AWD. When shopping for this vehile, I knew I wanted AWD/4WD and reasonable space for our small family. My top contenders were the Fusion, Escape and Edge. We already owned a Explorer (not the vehicle being replaced) so another didn't make sense. I wanted reasonable gas mileage (certainly better than the Explorer). I liked the ride height of the SUVs. The Escape and Edge were comparable in price for the year I was looking (2008-2010 and it was around 2015 at the time). The Edge has been a solid vehicle for us. We love the vista roof! It's a very comfortable vehicle. It's spacious enough for 4. We have 2 car seats in the 2nd row and they fit nicely. If we didn't have an Explorer already, that would probably be the smarter option. You sacrifice MPG, but gain a lot more seating and space. But commute about 2 hrs. a day so the Edge might win either way. The AWD makes it great in the snow (prefer the Explorer here, but where we live we only get a handful of large storms a year). The default FWD is very good too. In the rain, this slips much less (rarely) than the Explorer and it's RWD does. The handling is also much better than the Explorer, but not quite as nice as a mid-size car. <div> </div><div>When shopping, I saw several complains about the A/C direction (something about the vent locations). This has never been an issue for us. They work just fine and we can direct them well enough. My biggest complaint is that I wish the gas mileage were a bit better. We get about 17 MPG on long back roads (not quite highway, but better than city driving). Wish it had a little better power for the MPGs. Overall, we're very happy with the Edge. We bought it with ~113k miles and it's currently at ~142k. I hope to get at least 250k before it starts needing more repairs each year than it's worth. </div>"

Leather is comfortable and easy to clean. We have tan and it, obviously, doesn't get as hot as the black interior of our other vehicle which is nice.

The styling hasn't aged too poorly. Don't love the euro-style tail lights, but even the more recent Edges have them again (different style though) so I think many don't know the vehicle is 10 years old.

For the gas mileage (~17 mpg), I would expect better get-up-and-go. Otherwise, it does fine.

Works great for our family of 4. We normally drive our larger vehicle for family vacations because we figured the Edge wouldn't hold us; however, due to a vehicle needing repairs, we took our Edge on a 4 hr. away vacation including a double stroller and it worked. Stuff was piled a little higher than usual, but we could do it.

Buying this used (about 7 years old), it was comparable enough to the Escape and Explorer. New, I think they're a bit pricey.

"Great buy. Put on 200,000 miles had no major problems other than brakes and tires. Mine is a FWD. I also just purchased a 2013 MKX with AWD. Hopefully the MKX will be as great a vehicle as its cousin!! "

"I like the style of the Edge and this car was loaded and very reasonably priced. I had the car inspected by my mechanic before making an offer which I suggest anyone buying a used car do."

by Ford Edge on July 20, 2015

"Price/Performance Purchased for mileage and configuration of accessories. Car is clean, and low mileage. Body is straight, even though it had a minor accident. "
