Decent Weekender
"2008 Mercedes Benz SLK350 I bought the car used with 96,000 miles on it. Other than needing about $3,000 worth of different repairs to get it back to road-worthy condition I would rate the car as average for a small 2 seater convertible. It is a lot of fun to drive, the acceleration is very responsive, the handling very nimble. I'm not impressed with the telematics as I cannot connect my iPhone to the vehicle, but as I said, this is a 2008 before BlueTooth. The car also has early diagnostics, and will alert you to a problem with tire pressure, but it's too early to tell you which tire is low (one of the issues I mentioned earlier in the $3,000 in repairs is the TPM system kept coming on and off telling me one of the batteries in the sending units in the tires was malfunctioning or needed to be replaced). The trip computer is ahead of it's class, I can't get the navigation on the car to work without a Sim Card (installed by MB at a price of $600 and felt it wasn't worth it) It's a great 2nd car, but I wouldn't spend more than what I did on something like it. I bought it for $10,000 and then found out when I was thinking of trading it for a 2016 that trade in value was only $7,000. That's my mistake for not investigating more before buying. "

It is VERY compact, gauges and displays well thought out. Seats are firmer than later years in the same model, and are very limited in position due to the lack of space behind the seatback.

Love the curves of the vehicle and have gotten many compliments on it, even though it is 11 years old and does have nearly 100,000 miles on it. Paint finish is still good, and no rust that I can see.

Great acceleration, as it has a 3.5 liter V-6 in it and it is a compact roadster. Steering is also very responsive. Brakes well, yet expensive to replace (MB replaces the rotors and pads only at $500 for a front brake job)

This is a 2 seater roadster. I love the power hard top convertible, but you're not going to get a family in this vehicle, let alone a week's worth of groceries in the trunk with the top down. I would rate this as N/A Not Applicable due to the class or type of vehicle it is.

It's a Mercedes. It only runs on premium fuel and the higher the octane the better. It insures well, but if you're looking for a car that's good on the budget you shouldn't be purchasing a 3 season vehicle (I live in the Midwest).

"Have been looking into a "fun car" for awhile now when I found this car. Compared Miata, BMW, Solstice, etc. and found that for the driving experience, build quality, better than average room, hard top, and style, the Mercedes SLK280 simply can't be beat. Top operates seamlessly, lots of power, and lots of looks!"
