2008 911 Carrera 4S (997-1)
"Great car w/only 36k miles. Excellent value at CarMax w/availability of extended service warranty or 5 years or 100k/125k miles. "
Full leather interior. Outstanding workmanship of leather.
Everything is well put together and "tight" - no rattles or cheap looking items.
It's a Porsche - very nice. The 911-4S has a wider rear end and it looks seriously sculpted for high speed. The car looks like it's doing 90mph just sitting in the parking lot.
It's a Porsche. A screaming machine that with a flip of the wrist shifting from second to third to fourth easily breaks 100mph. I have to really watch my driving to not climb above 90 just merging or passing.
The 2008 911 4S has 355hp and is rated 0-60 in 4.5 sec. I am not sure of the 45mph or 65mph to 90 or 100+mph, but it's breathtaking and happens in a relatively speaking eye blink.
In today's world (2016/2017) so many cars have 500+hp that 355hp seems almost quaint until you 'ring down to engineering" and it launches itself down the road.
The 2008 911 Carrera 4S is a rocket.
Steering and snap lane shifts are very precise. Nothing feels loose or imprecise. I aim, it goes exactly there.
Still getting a better feel for high speed cornering. The engine is in the rear and the front feels a tad light - or maybe just different enough to warrant tentative caution - even with the Porsche enhanced suspension. I'll install new tires later this month as they last only 20k-30k.
Well, it's a great car for two. It's a great car if the child is old enough to crawl into the back and buckle themselves in. It's terrific for a single guy with adult kids whose primary passenger is normally his dog - or the occasional date. :)
Well, define that for yourself. It's an expensive car - used. It's German and it's a Porsche - so by definition it's performance oriented. Quality and reliability are high - but not to the level of a Honda or Toyota. Then again - it's decidedly NOT an Accord or Tacoma 4x4. Personally - I feel the reliability is better than US. For the same money I could have bought a used 2015 Corvette w/450hp and only 10k from CarMax. I opted for the Porsche and hoping for 125k or more before issues start popping up. My mechanic indicated Germans are seeing 200-225k w/no problems. I'll be looking deeper into that. These water cooled 911s are far more reliable than the older air-cooled.
