The 2010 Kia Forte is a stylish alternative to small cars from more popular brands. Helping matters, the Forte is relatively well equipped and supplies more cabin and cargo space than key rivals. The Forte also has a more powerful standard engine than some of those cars, yet it still returns competitive fuel-economy grades.
The Forte is a compact sedan with a five-place cabin. LX, EX and SX trim levels are available for the 2010. The standard powertrain relies on a five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Kia slao offers a four-speed automatic, a five-speed automatic and a six-speed manual. If you’re looking for something a bit sportier you can check out the two-door 2010 Kia Forte Koup, which iis offered in EX and SX trims.
Kia introduced the Forte as an all-new model for 2010.
The expressive exterior design for the Forte is crisp and modern. Highlights include sculpted surfaces on each side of the hood as well as a wedge-shaped profile. Above the rocker panels, a contoured shape emphasizes the car’s wheels. A diffuser-style trim piece adds another sporty touch at the rear of the Forte.
The 2010 Forte comes with the typical standard content for the segment. This means features like automatic halogen headlights, power-adjustable mirrors and 15-inch steel wheels. It’s a similar story in terms of options. The Forte offers popular upgrades like a power sunroof, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals and 16- and 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Inside, the Forte shows off a dramatic multilayered dashboard. It’s split by a prominent floating-style center stack with gloss-black trim. For a sophisticated styling cue, the dash sculpting also flows right into the door panels. The LX and SX trim levels have a standard 60/40-split folding rear seat. In all models, the back-seat passengers then enjoy an extra 3 inches of legroom as compared with the 2010 Honda Civic sedan. The Forte’s trunk capacity, 14.7 cubic feet, also tops what you get in the Civic.
Although there’s plenty of upscale equipment available for the Forte, the entry model is pretty basic. Standard content includes cloth upholstery, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat and a tilt-adjustable steering column. The standard steering wheel does have audio and Bluetooth controls. Air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and power door locks are standard for the EX and SX models. If you’re interested in luxury cues, the latter models offer leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A tilt-and-telescoping steering column is reserved for the range-topping model.
The 2010 Kia Forte lets you choose from two four-cylinder engines. A 2.0-liter unit is standard for LX and EX trim levels. It produces 156 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque. The Forte SX relies on a 2.4-liter engine that makes 173 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque. For the standard engine, a five-speed manual transmission is standard and a four-speed automatic is optional. The SX comes standard with a six-speed manual and offers a five-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, stability control and traction control are standard for all Forte models. In the Forte SX, a sport-tuned suspension is also standard.
The most fuel-efficient Forte model, with a 2.0-liter engine and automatic transmission, has EPA ratings of 27 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
Bluetooth for hands-free calling is standard for the 2010 Kia Forte. The car’s standard audio system includes an AM/FM stereo, CD player, satellite radio, a USB port, an auxiliary input jack and four speakers.
The audio system for the Forte LX and SX adds two more speakers and enhanced bass response.
