The 2013 Kia Sportage has the high ground clearance, interior space and all-wheel-drive capability of an SUV, but the sporty ride of a car. An affordable price tag and handsome styling help the Sportage stand out from other compact SUVs.
The Sportage is a five-passenger compact SUV. Kia offers the model in four trims levels: base, LX, EX and SX. Two four-cylinder engines are offered for the Sportage. A manual transmission is standard, while an automatic transmission is available. Every Sportage comes with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is offered on LX, EX and SX trims. Competitors include the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
The Sportage’s exterior highlights include sleek lines, Kia’s unique H-shaped grille, a slim front air intake and prominent headlamp assemblies. Black accents on the front air intake, grille and body cladding are rugged elements. At the back, the Sportage features large wraparound taillights.
Standard features for the base Sportage include 16-inch wheels, power-adjustable sideview mirrors, projection headlights, LED accent lighting and a chrome grille. Automatic headlights, 17- or 18-inch wheels, power-folding sideview mirrors, fog lights, a panoramic sunroof and a rear spoiler are available.
The Sportage’s interior has a handsome design that’s easy to get used to. The controls on the center stack are logically placed, and an easy-to-read, oversized speedometer sits in the middle of the instrument cluster. Passenger space is generous in both rows, though the rear seat does not slide or recline.
The Sportage has less cargo space than many of its competitors. With the rear seats in place, there is 26.1 cubic feet of cargo space. In total, there is 54.6 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded. That is well below what the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 offer, as both SUVs have more than 70 cubic feet of cargo space.
A tilt steering column, air conditioning, power door locks and windows and cloth upholstery are standard for the base model. Available features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, a ventilated driver’s seat, leather upholstery, a cooling glove box, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Kia offers two four-cylinder engines for the Sportage. The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 176 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard. A six-speed automatic is available. The range-topping SX trim is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 260 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard for the turbocharged engine. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is offered.
The base 2.4-liter engine is the most fuel-efficient option. When properly equipped, the Sportage can get up to 21/30 mpg city/highway.
The Sportage has an excellent list of technology features. A four-speaker audio system, satellite radio, an auxiliary input jack, a USB port and Bluetooth are standard. Available features include Kia’s Uvo infotainment system, navigation, push-button start, rear parking sensors, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, a universal garage door opener and a 4.3-inch touchscreen.

My surprise about my Kia.
"I love my 2013 Kia Sportage EX. Being in my 50's i've had many cars, trucks, SUV's and minivans. Both new and used. I had never owned a Kia. But to my pleasant surprise I love my Kia. Moreso than most types and Brands. I mean like WOW. I like it!!! A lot!!!"
Scratch on my display screen "used". But over all very pleased with the"loaded" package that came with my Kia Sportage. Very elligant i have to say. Almost no blind spots. Set up very nicely. heated and cooled leather front seats.
Two very small dents "used". Has great sporty lines. Love the sunroof and moon roof. Back up cameras are very helpful, in the fact shows my tow hitch. Very easy backing up to a trailer, get it first time everytime.
Rides like a caddy performs like a sports car. I'm very pleased. I really wouldn't think a SUV would ride or handle like that.
Easy in and out of the SUV all doors. Easy seatbelt and car seat install and hookups. All the whole vehicle easy to clean. Door panels, seats, dash all the glass... etc.
It gets 32 miles per gal. Which is awesome. Seeing how it had 107k miles on it I got it for a great price.
