With premium content and distinctive style elements, the 2014 Infiniti Q50 is designed for the sophisticated enthusiast.
The 2014 Infiniti Q50, a midsize sedan, is available in three trims: Q50, Q50 Premium and Q50S. All have a standard V6 engine, rear-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive. Additionally, the Q50 Premium and Q50S, with both drivetrain configurations, can be ordered with a V6-based hybrid propulsion system.
The Q50 is all new for the 2014 model year.
Fluid lines, an aerodynamic shape and a long hood combine to give the Q50 an appropriately athletic appearance complemented by Infiniti design cues such as a “double arch” grille and “crescent-cut” C-pillar. A signature design accents the standard LED headlights, too, and those are matched by standard LED foglights and fascia-mounted front turn-signal indicators. Standard as well are heated exterior mirrors, chrome exhaust finishers, door-handle courtesy lights and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Available upgrades include adaptive front lighting, a power-opening moonroof, 19-inch alloy wheels and dedicated summer tires. It’s also worth noting that the Q50S wears a specific sport-style front fascia.
A driver-oriented, dual-cockpit interior brings an athletic feel to the car’s cabin, which is highlighted by a dual-touchscreen center stack. The standard seats have leatherette surfaces, and the front row is distinguished by embroidered Infiniti logos and eight-way power adjustability. Also standard are a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control and the brand’s electroluminescent instrumentation, while real aluminum is used for the cabin accents and sill plates. Infiniti then supplies a wide range of available luxury content, such as leather seats, a heated front row, real maple trim, an air purifier and a heated steering wheel on a power tilt-and-telescoping column.
The Q50 meets owner demand for functionality with a standard trunk capacity of 13.5 cubic feet. Moreover, the rear row in the Q50 Premium and Q50S has a fold-down center armrest with a trunk pass-through for longer items. A add-on package allows those trims to be configured with a 60/40-split folding rear seat. (Note: The pass-through and split rear seats are not available with the hybrid models, which have a trunk capacity of 9.4 cubic feet.)
The Q50’s driver focus carries over to its road manners. Standard beneath the hood is a 3.7-liter V6 that produces 328 horsepower, 269 pound-feet of torque and responsive, rear-wheel-drive performance. In hybrid models, a 3.5-liter V6 engine, 50-kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery work together to create 360 horsepower. A seven-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode is standard with both powertrains, and magnesium paddle shifters and all-wheel drive are optional. Further setting the Q50 apart from the competition is an available Direct Adaptive Steering system that uses drive-by-wire technology with a physical backup for superior steering performance.
Fuel economy ratings for the gas-only Q50 range from 20/29 mpg city/highway with rear-wheel drive to 19/27 mpg city/highway with all-wheel drive. The hybrid models top out at 29/36 mpg city/highway. Premium fuel is recommended in all cases.
The Q50 has a variety of driver-assistance measures that start with a standard rearview camera and extend to such options as a 360-degree vision system, blind-spot warning and intervention technology, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rear and forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance and forward-collision warning; that latter technology can monitor both the vehicle ahead of the Q50 and the vehicle ahead of that one, too.
The Q50’s standard infotainment system features two capacitive touch screens: an 8-inch display stacked on top of a 7-inch display. In concert with standard voice recognition, the screens help control standard content such as a Bluetooth hands-free phone system with text-messaging assistance and a six-speaker audio system with HD Radio and satellite radio. Navigation is available and includes 3-D graphics, real-time traffic information and Infiniti Connection telematics. A 14-speaker “Studio on Wheels” sound system, engineered by Bose, is an available upgrade.

Not an ideal car for shorter people
"First thing people should know but most likely would fail to realize on the lot (like we did) is that the windshield wipers will not lift up unless the hood is open.... as you can imagine this is an absolute pain in the ass during winter. The trunk is very small and/or just shaped oddly. My average fuel mileage is like 17/18 miles per gallon which is terrible when compared to similar vehicles, and really sucks because it requires premium fuel so it's like throwing money right out the window. I'm 4'11" and am completely unable to use the head rest nor am I able to use the arm rest while driving which is also very inconvenient and quite uncomfortable"
headrest is not in an ideal position, arm rest also is placed in an awkward position for me while driving, infotainment system is slow to respond, I hate the gps all together it's just awful
can't lift the wipers up without having the hood open... this is EXTREMELY inconvenient during winter
