The 2015 BMW M4 serves up the kind of performance that enthusiasts’ dreams are made of. The M4 has the goods to deliver a high thrills-per-mile quotient on weekend jaunts, yet it’s comfortable enough to serve as an easygoing companion on daily drives.
Available as a coupe or a convertible, the 2015 BMW M4 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 4 Series. It seats four passengers and is sold in a single trim. All models are rear-wheel drive, and two transmissions are available: a seven-speed double-clutch transmission and a six-speed manual.
The M4 nameplate is new for 2015.
The M4 cuts a sporty and chiseled figure on the road. A twin-kidney grille with black-painted bars sits up front, and it’s overlooked by a hood-mounted power dome that’s a signature design cue of BMW’s M line. The profile is marked by a lengthy hood and a recessed glasshouse, and it all comes together to give the car a look that’s sleek and low-slung. Coupes come with either a sunroof-equipped steel roof or a roof made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic. Convertibles come with a power-retractable hardtop featuring a wind blocker for comfortable top-down cruising.
Standard features include 18-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights and auto-dimming mirrors. Available upgrades include headlight washers, adaptive LED headlights and 19-inch wheels.
The M4’s cabin is a haven of understated style. The design theme is clean and simple, and material quality is top of the line. Both the first and second rows provide comfortable seating for adults. The trunk in the coupe provides 11 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Cargo volume for the convertible is 7.9 cubic feet.
The lineup of standard features includes leather upholstery, heated 10-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, driver memory settings and fold-down rear seats. You can upgrade your M4 with a heated steering wheel, and the convertible is available with neck warmers for front-seat passengers.
When it comes to performance, the M4 is built to impress. Its handling is razor-sharp and sure. At the same time, ride quality is smooth enough to keep harshness at arm’s length. Drivers of this rear-wheel-drive coupe or convertible will enjoy timely gear shifts with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a six-speed manual is offered for those who want to row their own gears.
The M4 is motivated by a 3.0-liter inline-six engine that generates 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The EPA rates this engine at up to 17/26 mpg city/highway. You can spice up the performance of your M4 with carbon ceramic brakes and an adaptive suspension.
All 2015 BMW M4 models come with Bluetooth phone and audio, navigation, HD Radio, an 8.8-inch display screen, a CD player, an auxiliary jack, a USB/iPod interface and a nine-speaker sound system. You can upgrade your M4 with satellite radio, a rearview camera and a Harman Kardon sound system. Active safety features such as blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, frontal-collision warning, side- and top-view cameras, and automatic braking are available.
