The 2015 Hyundai Equus provides some impressive luxury cues, from a leather-wrapped instrument panel to real-wood cabin trim. You get premium performance, too. For that, credit goes to a standard engine that makes more than 400 horsepower. The Equus also comes well-stocked with standard safety technology.
Hyundai’s full-size flagship sedan is meant to compete against luxury cars from brands like Mercedes-Benz. With the Equus, the standard interior is designed to hold up to five people. You can choose from Signature and Ultimate trim levels for 2015. In each case, a V8 engine is standard and combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Hyundai reports no significant changes to the Equus for 2015.
The 2015 Equus has a long flowing shape that’s emphasized by swept-back headlights. Between those lights, a sophisticated multi-blade grille is standard. The Equus also sports standard side sills and muscular lines over its wheel openings. These are especially aggressive at the rear. That’s where they flow into the car’s large taillights. Integrated dual exhaust outlets supply a sporty, upscale finish.
In terms of content, the biggest difference for the Equus models is on the inside. Outside, both trim levels offer standard adaptive high-intensity discharge headlamps, daytime running lights and LEDs for the front accent lights, front turn signals, fog lights and mirror-mounted turn signals. The standard power-folding mirrors are also heated with a reverse tilt-down function and approach lighting. A power sunroof and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are standard as well.
A broad, strongly horizontal dashboard welcomes you into the Equus cabin. Real-aluminum trim complements the dash, which also relies on the climate-vent trim to frame its infotainment screen. Real-wood inserts and stitched leather surfaces add further elegance. In the back, 60/40-split folding seats are standard. The Equus also has a 16.7-cubic-foot trunk capacity.
The Equus earns its flagship status with its standard equipment. This includes leather seats, climate-controlled front seats, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and heated power-reclining outboard rear seats. The standard multifunction steering wheel is heated, with a leather-wrapped rim, wood trim and a power-adjustable column. Tri-zone automatic climate control and a power rear sunshade are standard for even more comfort. For the Equus Ultimate trim level, upgraded rear seats are standard. They gain a cooling function, power-adjustable head restraints and power-adjustable lumbar adjustability for the outboard positions.
The 2015 Hyundai Equus offers a single engine, but it’s a powerful one. A 5.0-liter V8 makes 429 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard to manage that output. A standard air suspension enhances handling with dedicated Normal, Snow and Sport modes. Although some rivals are available with all-wheel drive, the Equus is configured with rear-wheel drive for both trim levels.
The Equus earns competitive fuel economy ratings of 15/23 mpg city/highway.
A number of advanced safety technologies are standard for the Equus. They include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors. For standard infotainment, the Equus delivers a navigation system with a 9.2-inch display, a console-mounted controller, Bluetooth, satellite radio and a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system.
Hyundai also serves up additional infotainment features for the Ultimate model, including forward-view cornering cameras, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a head-up display and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with dual 9.2-inch screens.

"we were looking for a comfortable car for our regular weekend and family trips. This car fits us perfectly. We currently own a 5 series and Jeep GC Summit. This car has power and comfort that closely matches its German counterparts. "
Very nice nappa leather, I like the control knob vs touch screen, nice large screen: 2 LCD front and rear, intuitive menu. HUD, very, very comfortable rwd sedan. Plenty of room. Auto sunscreens: rear window and rear sides. Button and screen redundancy.
Very much simiar to like year S Class styling.
5.0 V8 perfectly mated to the transmission, smooth shifts with 429hp. Air Ride suspension.
Plenty of room for 5 adults or whole family.
It is cost effective for a large sedan. Mpg could be slightly better but is premium or regular capable.
"80% of an S-Class Mercedes at half the price. " Read Less
