Outstanding vehicle
"This car has more road feel than the previous S class model and with the 12 cylinder engine it has constant pulling power. I rank it as one of the finest automobiles I have ever owned. The one drawback is a 20 gallon tank which is a little small for this gas hog. "

Got a great deal!! Mileage was so low (under 18k), I was concerned whether or not the vehicle had been wrecked. The clean carfax was definitely my decision maker!!

Switched from Lexus to Mercedes
"I’ve driven Lexus since 2007 so I was very cautious to switch from Toyota to Mercedes. The 2015 S550 is a dream to drive. Smooth gear shifts and an even smoother ride. Maintenance and reliability were my main concerns switching to Mercedes. Thankfully, I was able to include a 3 year maintenance plan and a one year extended warranty. The car is quite heavy but responds effortlessly when needed. Lots of technology differences with Distronic cruise control and lane keep assist. Things like automatic heated seats, remote start and ITunes options fall short from my previous GS350, but not unbearable."

The design and contour of the body makes the vehicle look and feel totally oposite each other. Large vehicle but feels small.

I love my 2015 S Class 550 4-matic
"Quality, quality, quality. The technology is wonderful, the comfort on long drives and short is first class, the only downside is the issue of selecting a dealer for servicing -- all dealers are not alike. "
Interior

5.0

The ergonomics are incredibly well thought out.
Exterior

4.0

Quality is outstanding. The style is a bit stodgy (but for an old guy like me that is fine).
Performance

5.0

For a car of this weight the performance is surprisingly spritely.
Family

My wife is reluctant to drive the car as she is a bit intimidated by the technology. It took me a bit of time to transition to it, as well. I'm a technologist and a pilot and I approached it like I would flying a new airplane. It took some time to get to the point of familiarity with it.
Cost

5.0

It is a very expensive car. I keep cars for about ten years and at that point the cost of ownership is very reasonable.

Nice Ride
"The S-550 is a well built, quite riding luxury car. My AMG model has the same cruise characteristics - handling, wind noise, road noise, etc. - at 60MPH, 80MPH or 100MPH. But the 20" rims and specialty run flat tires are a disaster. Hard riding, expensive and no all-season styles are available. I rub of $100 worth of tread off on each Phoenix to LA round trip. And no spare."
Interior

4.0

Comfortable seating with lots of leg and headroom. Intuitive screen based features systems. The navigation system is unreadable with small print and no contrast to the map background.
Exterior

3.0

Somewhat generic looking. Nothing special as one drives by.
Performance

5.0

My AMG Biturbo V8 has unbelievable acceleration for a car of this size and weight. Cruising at 70 MPH and go to pass a semi; tap the gas and car instantly goes 90 MPH with no noticeable engine, road nor wind noise.
Family

4.0

Lots of room. Bluetooth and radio are top of the line. Trunk is a bit cramped for such a large car.
Cost

2.0

Nothing comes cheap. $200 for wiper replacements. $300+ to take the trunk apart to change the massive buried battery. Even changing the air filter is a dealer required maintenance procedure. A set of MB certified 20" run flat tires cost more than my first new car - and the tires are only good for 20,000 miles. But, driven properly, the car can produce 26 mile per gallon performance on the highway and 18-20 miles per gallon in city driving. 91+ octane only.
