The 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK delivers stunning performance and a generous list of luxury features. With its hardtop roof, the SLK can even handle colder months in stride. An available manual transmission is also a rarity in the segment, and it helps the SLK with its sports car credentials.
The Mercedes SLK is a compact hardtop roadster with seating for two. Mercedes-Benz offers the SLK in three trims: SLK250, SLK350 and SLK55 AMG. A four-cylinder engine is standard for the SLK, while a V6 and a V8 are also available. A six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard, and a seven-speed automatic transmission is offered.
Besides the addition of a painted roof panel as a no-cost option, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK carries over unchanged.
Regardless of whether the hardtop is up or down, the SLK has a sleek design. An elongated hood, diamond-shaped headlights and a large rectangular grille help give the SLK its luxurious design. The SLK’s athletic elements include a stubby rear end, a chiseled bumper and large tailpipes.
The base SLK comes with 17-inch wheels, LED running lights, automatic windshield wipers, a painted or glass roof panel and heated side-view mirrors. Available features include bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch wheels, an AMG body kit and gloss black exterior trim.
On the inside, the SLK flexes its luxurious muscle with high-end features and soft-touch materials. The seats offer superior levels of comfort and the cabin is quiet. The SLK’s elegant dashboard features circular vents and smooth lines. The center stack puts buttons in an easy-to-access area.
Automatic climate control, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, eight-way power seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror are standard. Available features include heated seats, Nappa leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, sport seats and a steering wheel with suede inserts.
Mercedes-Benz offers the SLK with three engines. The SLK250 comes with a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder that produces 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, while a seven-speed automatic transmission is available. Opt for the SLK350, and you’ll get a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
At the top of the range sits the SLK55 AMG, which features a 5.5-liter V8. The eight-cylinder engine generates 415 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Both the V6 and the V8 engine come with a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, and rear-wheel drive is standard for the entire SLK line.
The SLK250 provides the best fuel economy in the lineup, delivering up to an EPA-estimated 23/32 mpg city/highway.
The SLK comes with an extensive list of technology features that’s befitting of a luxury convertible. Bluetooth, a 5.8-inch display, an eight-speaker audio system, an auxiliary audio jack, a USB port and Mercedes-Benz’s COMAND infotainment system are standard. Optional features include an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, satellite radio, navigation, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and a collision warning system with automatic braking.
