The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle stands out due to its charming, retro-styled design. This small hatchback also provides a diverse powertrain lineup and a chic interior, and it offers a drop-top variant that allows you to enjoy open-air driving.
Volkswagen’s Beetle is a subcompact car that’s available as a hatchback coupe or a two-door hatchback convertible. Buyers can choose from gas and diesel powertrains, and all models are front-wheel drive. Both body styles seat four passengers and come in three main trim levels: 1.8T, R-Line and TDI. Volkswagen also offers a limited-edition 1.8T Classic trim.
For the 2015 model year, the Beetle’s available diesel engine adds 10 horsepower while also benefiting from improved fuel economy. Additionally, the 1.8T Classic trim is new this year.
With its rounded headlights and curved fenders, the 2015 VW Beetle checks in with a variety of old-school design cues. Convertible models come standard with a power-folding cloth top, and R-Line models wear more aggressive front and rear bumpers to complement the vehicle’s standard rear spoiler.
When it comes to standard content, you’ll find automatic halogen headlights, daytime running lights, body-colored running boards, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and heated power-adjustable exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals. Options include xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, a panoramic sunroof for the hatchback coupe, black running boards and 18- or 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
The Beetle’s cabin looks fresh and up-to-date. The dashboard is sleek and modern, and VW also provides traditional Beetle touches like dual gloveboxes. The front seats are comfortable, but second-row passengers face tight legroom. The hatchback coupe offers 15.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rears seats in place and 29.9 cubic feet with these seats folded. The convertible provides 7.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Standard features include single-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, heated front seats with six-way manual adjustability and simulated leather upholstery. Options include sport seats, leather upholstery and carbon-fiber dashboard trim.
VW’s Beetle provides handling that’s pleasant enough to make it an agreeable companion on both short and long commutes. Buyers can choose from four transmissions: a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. Power is sent to the car’s front wheels.
Beetle 1.8T models come with a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine good for 170 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. For the Beetle R-Line, a sport-tuned suspension and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 210 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque are standard. With the TDI, you get a turbodiesel 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offering 150 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.
With the diesel engine, fuel economy tops out at an EPA-estimated 30/39 mpg city/highway. Mileage peaks at 25/32 mpg with the gas power plant.
Volkswagen has equipped the Beetle with a respectable range of standard tech features. Base models come with an eight-speaker stereo, a CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, a proprietary iPod connection and an auxiliary input jack.
Options include HD and satellite radio, keyless entry and ignition, a six-disc CD changer, an SD card reader, navigation and a premium Fender audio system.

User Reviews for 2015 Volkswagen Beetle

"Fun vehicle for a second car. Peppy, cute, reliable. Great fuel mileage. Visibility could be better - small back window due to convertible top - but backup camera helps. Would not put a person in the backseat - very small. Cannot put golf clubs in through trunk, but fit in backseat. "
not large back seat - would not work well for child seat
"Love the car and definitely had to have a 5-speed manual. That was my only demand when I decided to purchase a vehicle. I have had 2 other VWs in the past and both were Sciroccos (78, 79) and I loved driving them, and they were both 5-speed manual."
I love the fact that you can change the interior lighting on the car. I had it for 3 months before I realized I had that option. Lol
Love the overall look! Only thing is I wish I had a rear spoiler.
The car has a lot of pick up, especially when the turbo spools up and I love the control through manual shifting.
Not as much room for a family but i'm a single guy so that really doesn't matter to me.
Really decent city gas mileage but really great on the highway.
