"At a time when gas-powered cars are primed for extinction and all-electric cars still trigger range anxiety, the plug-in hybrid seems to be the perfect option. And the Chevy Volt is the best example of this class. We get nearly 60 miles of all-electric power before the gas motor kicks in and on any given day that's all we need unless we're on a road trip. Even then, the gas engine gets over 40 mpg. It even has a nifty paddle to the left of the steering wheel that lets you slow the car down (saving wear on the brakes) while regenerating the battery. On top of all that, it provides plenty of acceleration, especially when you kick it into "Sport" mode. This absolutely is not your father's Chevrolet."
