"After driving a Prius for 6 1/2 years and 85K miles, I appreciate the driving characteristics of Ford's C-Max. Better visibility and a more comfortable driving position. More power and better handling. However it is heavier and you pay for the 188hp with less fuel efficiency. This is 40mpg Vs 44 mpg with the Prius. The positives out way the millage issue. I did consider a new Prius, but they lowered the car and for me it is now too difficult to climb into. The Prius V has more cargo capacity, but I didn't care. I wanted a smaller, fuel efficient car to drive around town. This suits my needs fine. The dealer's sold this as a Prius killer which it is not, as it is a different kind of car. Because of all the bad press in regards to the MPGs, these cars are a great value to purchase used. Consumer reports gives it a great review, though it was initially critical of the miss advertisement of the MPGs.
Everything is relative, maybe @ 30K it was over priced, but a used C-MAX SEL can be picked up for 10k less. In addition the 2016's have the improved electronics as they didn't use the embedded Windows product. It doesn't have some of the electronics like blind spot monitoring, but hey it has windows you can see out of so you don't need it. Mine has the rear camera and obstacle detection which works fine. I am not comfortable not having a spare tire, though on some cars I wouldn't change the tire anyway. However if the tire is severely damaged you do not have a tire to put on. The car needs to be towed. "
