The 2016 Infiniti QX60 provides impressive luxury along with the ability to accommodate lots of passengers and a decent amount of cargo. It’s also quite reasonably priced, and it’s a strong choice if you’re in the market for a large premium SUV that won’t be too hard on your finances.
Infiniti’s QX60 is a full-size luxury SUV that seats seven. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are offered, and the QX60 is sold in gas-only and hybrid variants. Both are sold in a single trim.
For 2016, the QX60 receives a number of upgrades. Its sheet metal has been refreshed to give it an even more upscale look. The SUV benefits from changes to its chassis dynamics, and these are intended to improve ride quality. Insulation has been beefed up, and the result is a quieter cabin. Finally, the feature lineup now includes Infiniti Personal Assistant, a concierge service that provides 24-hour access to a team of live assistants.
The 2016 Infiniti QX60 has a long, curved hood and a swooping roofline, and these give it a fluid and graceful look. Infiniti’s broad signature grille occupies most of the front fascia, and it’s flanked by standard xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights. A side view reveals standard power-folding heated exterior mirrors and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. A standard power rear liftgate facilitates easy access from the back.
The QX60’s standard features includes a power sunroof with one-touch open and close, rear privacy glass and LED foglights. Optional features include rain-sensing wipers and roof-rack side rails and cross bars.
You expect a full-size SUV to provide roominess and versatility, and the QX60 doesn’t disappoint. Three rows of seating are provided, and a sliding second row facilitates hassle-free access for third-row passengers. The QX60 delivers 15.8 cubic feet of capacity behind the third row, and this figure expands to 40.8 cubic feet with the third row folded. With both the second and third rows folded, cargo capacity comes in at 76.5 cubic feet.
Standard interior features include power windows and door locks, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat and leather upholstery. Available upgrades include memory setting for the driver’s seat, heated second-row outboard seats and a heated steering wheel.
The 2016 Infiniti QX60 does a good job of keeping passengers shielded from potholes and roughness. All models are governed by a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option.
Two powertrains are available. A 3.5-liter V6 pumps out 265 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque, and it gets up to 21/27 mpg city/highway. Hybrid models feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 15kW electric motor, and this combination produces output of 230 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque. The QX60 hybrid achieves fuel economy of up to 26/28 mpg.
Gas-only models can tow up to 5,000 pounds, while the hybrid’s tow rating stands at 3,500 pounds.
The QX60 offers a pleasing assortment of technology features. Standard amenities include satellite radio, a USB connection port, a CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, a 7-inch color display and a six-speaker sound system. You can upgrade your QX60 with a premium Bose sound system, a navigation system, voice control, front and rear parking assist, a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, lane-departure warning and forward-collision warning with emergency braking.
