Value is always a strong selling point, and it’s this attribute that makes the 2016 Lincoln MKZ such an attractive purchase. The MKZ comes with an endless list of standard features, and the sedan delivers all of it while being more affordable than most rivals.
The 2016 Lincoln MKZ is a midsize luxury sedan that seats five. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available. Gas-only and hybrid models are offered, and both variants are sold in base and Black Label trims. Base models are available in three equipment groups: Premiere, Select and Reserve. The Black Label trim is offered in four designer themes: Modern Heritage, Indulgence, Center Stage and Oasis.
Lincoln’s MKZ sees no major changes for 2016.
The MKZ’s sheet metal has heft and density, and this helps give it an imposing presence. A winged grille graces the front fascia, and it’s bordered by a color-keyed bumper and standard LED headlights. The MKZ’s heated mirrors and chrome door handles are visible from the side, along with its standard 18-inch aluminum wheels. LED taillamps light up the rear fascia.
Standard features include dual chrome exhaust tips, auto on/off adaptive headlights, body-colored rocker moldings and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The list of upgrades includes power-folding side mirrors, daytime running lights, a panoramic sunroof and 19-inch wheels.
Within its cabin, the Lincoln MKZ features graceful lines and modern styling cues. Taller passengers may be short on headroom, but there is ample legroom in both rows. A 60/40-split folding rear seat is standard on gas-only sedans, and these models offer 15.4 cubic feet of room in the trunk. Because of the battery pack, hybrid models offer just 11.1 cubic feet of trunk space.
Base models are equipped with genuine wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated 10-way power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column. You can upgrade your MKZ with a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, ambient lighting, leather upholstery and multi-contour front seats.
The 2016 Lincoln MKZ provides poised handling and a tranquil cabin. Gas-only models are governed by a six-speed automatic transmission, while hybrids utilize a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
Buyers have a choice of three powertrains. Base models are motivated by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, and this powerplant has an EPA rating of up to 22/33 mpg city/highway. There’s also a 3.7-liter V6 available. This engine generates 300 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, and it achieves fuel economy of up to 18/27 mpg. The MKZ is also offered as a frugal hybrid. This model pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for total output of 188 horsepower, and it has an EPA rating of 41/39 mpg.
The 2016 Lincoln MKZ doesn’t skimp on technology. Base models come with three 12-volt power outlets, a rearview camera, satellite radio, a CD/MP3 player, a 10.1-inch LCD screen, an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, an SD card reader, Bluetooth connectivity, an 11-speaker sound system and Sync with MyLincoln Touch. The list of upgrades includes HD Radio, navigation with voice recognition, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, a 14-speaker sound system, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and a lane-keeping system.
