The luxury class isn’t necessarily the first place you’d look for great value, but the 2017 Acura TLX provides lots of feature content at a price that’s low by segment standards. With its roomy backseat and agreeable handling, the Acura TLX is one of the most sensible picks in the luxury category.
The 2017 Acura TLX is a midsize premium sedan that seats five passengers, and it’s sold in base, Technology and Advance trims. The TLX gives buyers a choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and the sedan is available with either a nine-speed automatic or an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
For 2017, the TLX adds San Marino Red, Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic to its lineup of available exterior colors. Also, sedans in San Marino Red and Fathom Blue Pearl are now available with an ebony-black interior.
With its glossy surfaces and sleek character lines, the 2017 Acura TLX strikes a purposeful and determined stance. A fluid hood overlooks standard jewel-eye LED headlights, and the car’s five-cornered grille sits like a superhero’s shield across the front fascia. Seventeen-inch aluminum-alloy wheels help put the TLX in touch with the pavement. In back, LED taillights and brake lights cast their ruby glow on the rear fascia.
Base models come equipped with a capless fuel filler, a power sunroof, LED daytime running lights and heated side mirrors with integrated directional signals. The list of upgrades includes LED puddle lights, 18-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto-dimming side mirrors and LED fog lights.
The TLX’s cabin is spacious and comfortable, with lots of high-quality materials and a pleasant design. Overall, though, the look and feel is slightly less deluxe than that of cabins you’ll find with some German rivals. Base and Technology models have a trunk capacity of 13.2 cubic feet, and this figure increases to 14.3 cubic feet with the Advance trim.
Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, 60/40-split fold-down rear seats and a tilt-and-telescoping steering column. There’s also a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and ambient cabin lighting. You can upgrade your Acura TLX with leather upholstery, ventilated front seats and GPS-linked climate control.
The 2017 Acura TLX is both quiet and comfortable on city streets and highways. The TLX’s suspension works diligently to soak up bumps, and the car’s available all-wheel drive maintains stable footing in wet or snowy weather. Base models come with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine good for 206 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque, and this engine has an EPA rating of 24/35 mpg city/highway. This powerplant is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 3.5-liter V6 is also offered, and it generates 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and it achieves mileage of up to 21/34 mpg.
Buyers can enjoy a broad range of technology features with the 2017 Acura TLX. Base models come equipped with Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, an MP3/auxiliary input jack, a USB audio interface with iPod integration, Pandora and Aha compatibility, Siri Eyes Free, a text messaging assistant and a seven-speaker sound system. The list of upgrades includes navigation with 3D view, HD radio and satellite radio. Available active safety features include front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning and mitigation with automatic braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert and a blind-spot information system.

Excellent Sport Sedan
"This car is roomy, extremely quiet cabin, very good acceleration (V6), and a throaty engine sound. Excellent combination of comfort, sportiness, luxury, and practicality. I am excited to see what Acura does in 2021!"
Very comfortable seats, roomy, extremely quiet cabin.
Sleek and stylish.
Throaty engine sound, great acceleration V6 with great gas mileage. Not going to win any drag races, but plenty of acceleration when needed.
My kids love it. Very comfortable and roomy for its class. Extremely quiet cabin.
Great gas mileage but as expected with any "luxury" brand, repair costs are high. Still, given its dependability, I will bet on an Acura for overall cost-effectiveness relative to other brands.
