The 2017 Chrysler 200 strikes a balance between the practical car you need and the one you want. It’s elegant inside, but not overstated. Powerful, but also fuel efficient. In many ways, the Chrysler 200 is a great option that can meet everyday needs. Several upscale touches give it an advantage over competitors like the Chevrolet Malibu and Toyota Camry.
The 200 is a five-seat, midsize sedan, available with either a four-cylinder or V6 engine and all-wheel drive. It is offered in five trim levels: 200 LX, 200 Touring, 200 Limited Platinum, 200S and 200C Platinum.
New features for the 2017 model year include a Dark Appearance Package for the Touring trim, which adds sleek jet black gloss wheels and a gloss black exterior. The Alloy Edition package adds some interesting metal touches on the 200S interior.
The 200 has a sleek presence about it. Distinct lines give the 200 a bold look on the front fender, arching over the front wheel well and reaching towards the tail. In some ways, the 200 is a less girthy version of Chrysler’s larger sedan, the 300. Though it has a far less aggressive presence, the 200 is distinct in its softer, more svelte look.
Its standard exterior features include 17-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, halogen headlights and tinted glass. Upgrades include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and appearance packages to add a distinctive look to the exterior.
The Chrysler 200 excels at creating a spacious and luxurious interior environment. Many different options and packages give options for selection. It offers a good amount of space in the front seats for the driver and passenger. Cargo space is plentiful in the trunk as well, with 16 cubic feet available.
Standard features in the 200 include a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, premium cloth upholstery and manually-adjusting seats. Upgrades include heated seats and steering wheel, metallic interior trim, and front dual-zone climate control.
Its smooth ride and exceptionally easy handling experience makes the 200 a joy to drive. It’s efficient, and though not overly powerful, it does offer all-wheel drive. For a better handling experience, a sport-tuned suspension will improve the feel further. In terms of gas mileage, the 2017 Chrysler 200 gets up to an EPA-estimated 23/36 mpg city/highway.
The 200 offers two engine options. The base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 184 horsepower and 173 pounds-feet of torque. Its optional engine is a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 295 horsepower and 262 pounds-feet of torque. Both are paired with a nine-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
Offering a good variety of tech features, the Chrysler 200 has just about everything you might need. From safety technology to an advanced infotainment system, there’s a lot to like about this sedan here.
Standard technology features include a Sirius XM radio, a USB input, Bluetooth connectivity, speed-sensitive volume control and brake assist technology. Upgrades include several safety features like a backup camera, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and an 8.4-inch touch-screen display.
