With the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, you get a subcompact luxury crossover SUV that combines Range Rover’s reknown premium amenities and off-road ruggedness. Moreover, you also get a city-friendly size, a fashion forward exterior, a well-made cabin and a long list of amenities.
For 2017, the Range Rover Evoque lineup expands to include a new convertible body style, the first-ever convertible to be offered as part of Land Rover’s SUV lineup.
Uniquely, the Evoque is one of two SUVs offered as a five-door hatchback, a three-door hatchback, or two-door convertible. Four-door models are offered in SE, SE Premium, HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography trims. The two-door Evoque comes in solely in SE Premium trim, while the convertible is sold in SE Dynamic and HSE Dynamic grades. Convertible models seat four; other Evoque crossovers accommodate five.
The 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque’s assertive opulence doesn’t mask the brand’s traditional squared-off lines, sculpted surfaces and chiseled hood. Pronounced wheel wells lend the Evoque a muscular stance. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard.
Remarkably, the new Evoque convertible retains much of the hardtop’s silhouette, looking as good with roof up as it does with roof down.
SE models come with standard exterior features such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated power-folding side mirrors and body-colored mirror caps and door handles. The list of available features includes fog lights, xenon headlights, darkened headlights and taillights, a hands-free power tailgate, adaptive LED headlights and 19- or 20-inch wheels.
The sophisticated look of the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque’s exterior carries over into its cabin, which offers first-rate materials and attractive design. In all body styles, the front row is pleasantly roomy, but the second row won’t be an agreeable fit for most adults. Four-door models provide 20.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place and 51 cubic feet with these seats folded. With the two-door model, you get 19.4 cubic feet of capacity behind the second row and 47.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Convertibles provide 8.9 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Evoque SE premium cabin is equipped with dual-zone climate control, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Optional features include memory settings for the front seats, ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel and stowage rails for the cargo area.
The convertible’s power cloth top stows in 18 seconds and rises in 21 seconds while simultaneously lowering or raising all four windows. The top system also includes two aluminum rollover bars that deploy in less than 90 milliseconds in case of a vehicle rollover.
Residing under the hood of the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. All models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Land Rover’s Terrain Response system is standard, and it allows you to alter settings to suit road or trail conditions.
The Range Rover Evoque has an EPA rating of up to 21/29 mpg city/highway.
Evoque buyers benefit from a full range of technology content. SE models come with keyless entry and ignition, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, an 8-inch touch screen, front parking sensors, a rearview camera and an eight-speaker sound system with USB connectivity.
The list of available features includes navigation, a premium Meridian sound system, a 10.2-inch touch screen, an automatic parking system, a surround-view camera, lane keep assist, a driver drowsiness monitor, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking.
