Bold styling is a key trait of the 2017 Lexus NX, and this crossover isn’t shy about making a statement with its sheet metal. The NX also provides a serene cabin, a roomy backseat and smooth handling.
The 2017 Lexus NX is a compact luxury crossover that seats five passengers. The sole trim is the 200t; a hybrid, the NX 300h, is also available, and it’s marketed separately. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is offered for those in rainy or snowy climes.
For 2017, the NX adds a Scout GPS Link navigation app as standard equipment.
With its aggressively modern lines, the 2017 Lexus NX has no problem standing apart from the pack. Design highlights include a voluptuous spindle grille, angled headlights, a bullet-shaped hood, deeply chiseled side panels and an upturned beltline. A roof-mounted spoiler closes things out in the back.
Standard features include 17-inch wheels, exterior door handles with LED illumination, rear privacy glass and heated side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Eighteen-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers and a sunroof are available.
Deluxe appointments are the order of the day within the Lexus NX’s cabin. This crossover’s dramatic center stack is shaped to echo the look of the vehicle’s spindle grille. Both rows of seats provide roomy accommodations for adult passengers. With the rear seat in place, cargo capacity comes in at 17.7 cubic feet, and this figure swells to 54.6 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.
The list of standard interior amenities includes simulated leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, a reclining 60/40-split folding rear seat, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, power windows and door locks and automatic dual-zone climate control. Available upgrades include aluminum pedals, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding rear seats, a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and leather upholstery.
The Lexus NX feels poised and serene on the road. Gears are shifted by a six-speed automatic transmission, and both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are available.
All models come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine good for 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. An F Sport package is available, and it adds a sport-tuned suspension for sharper handling.
The NX can tow up to 2,000 pounds, and it has an EPA rating of up to 22/28 mpg city/highway.
Lexus models usually deliver quite nicely when it comes to technology features, and the NX is no exception. Standard technology amenities include Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, HD radio, a CD player, an eight-speaker sound system, satellite radio, USB connectivity, a Scout GPS Link navigation app, a 7-inch touch screen, voice recognition and a rearview camera.
Available features include integrated navigation, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure alert and adaptive cruise control.
