As the Italian alternative for today’s more sophisticated SUVs, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers unique design and powertrain advantages as compared to its rivals. It also matches its competition with advanced infotainment and safety technologies, along with a luxurious cabin.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a compact luxury SUV that seats five passengers, and it comes in three trims: base, Ti and the high-performance Quadrifoglio. Alfa Romeo equips all models with standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Alfa Romeo’s first SUV is all-new for 2018.
The Stelvio’s unique triangular grille makes an immediate design statement, and it’s set off by subtle sculpting and dramatically shaped headlights. Sleek, streamlined sheet metal emphasizes the Stelvio’s sporty and aerodynamic appearance, as do its sharply angled rear glass, integrated rear spoiler and dual exhaust tips.
Standard features include adaptive bi-xenon projector-style headlamps, LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, LED tail lamps, LED fog lights, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, aluminum roof rails and heated power-folding exterior mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators. Among the vehicle’s notable exterior options are a handsfree power liftgate, 18- through 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheel designs and a dual-pane sunroof.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers distinctive style elements in the cabin, like a striking dual-level dashboard, cool circle shapes for the outboard climate vents and a leather-wrapped armrest with French-seamed accent stitching. All models provide 18.5 cubic feet of storage with the rear seats in place, and 56.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity with these seats folded.
Standard features include 10-way power-adjustable seats, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel on a manual tilt-and-telescoping column, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and LED ambient lighting. When it comes to interior options, choices include a heated front row with up to 14-way power adjustability, a leather-wrapped dash, wood trim and multiple color themes. Also worth pointing out are the standard F1-style steering wheel and optional carbon-fiber racing seats for the Quadrifoglio model.
Taking its performance cues from Alfa Romeo’s sports cars, the Stelvio supplies relatively nimble handling and more output than many of its competitors. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard for all models.
The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has been turbocharged to produce 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. A 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 is standard in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, where it makes 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Unsurprisingly, that model sets the Stelvio performance benchmark with 0-60 mph times of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph. Drivers also enjoy a standard adaptive suspension and optional Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes in the Quadrifoglio.
The Stelvio earns EPA ratings of 22/28 mpg city/highway.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes with a very competitive array of technologies. Standard features include a 6.5-inch display screen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, USB connectivity, auxiliary audio input, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity and an eight-speaker audio system with HD radio.
A number of upgrades are available, including adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and ignition, front parking sensors, a blind-spot monitor, forward collision alert, automatic forward braking, rear cross-traffic alert, an 8.8-inch display screen, navigation and a 900-watt 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

User Reviews for 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio

"Red finish is impressive paint. handling and ride are superior to most. Fuel consumption is excellent 17-19 in town and much better on trips. Uses 91 octane but worth it for the on demand power. Leather and wood trim with chrome accents is rich and comfortable. Paddle shifter is nice when entering freeway at speed. I did not opt for the moonroof after I saw the sunshade was flimsy and it put me off. Plenty easy to carry my golf bag and several pair of golf shoes in the rear which is just icing on the cake. A friend has a BMW sedan B6 and the trunk has trouble holding 2 sets of clubs."
"Absolutely brilliant vehicle in terms of its driving capabilities. With android auto, most of the infotainment is covered. However, the tech package is the only thing i can fault compared to its competitors. "
