With its distinctive design cues, the 2018 Ford Edge is an imposing presence on the road. The Edge also offers an impressive engine lineup and upscale feature content.
The 2018 Ford Edge is a midsize crossover SUV that seats five passengers, and it’s sold in four trims: SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Minor updates for the 2018 Edge include new appearance and technology packages.
The exterior design of the 2018 Ford Edge is highlighted by a wide stance, tall shoulders and a cleanly designed front end. The look is complemented by an angled grille that merges into the Edge’s sweptback headlights. At the rear, slim roof pillars are matched by wraparound taillights.
Standard features include automatic halogen projector-style headlights, daytime running lights, LED taillights, power-adjustable side mirrors and 18-inch wheels. The list of available features includes heated side mirrors, a hands-free liftgate, HID headlights, a panoramic sunroof and 19-, 20- and 21-inch wheels.
The cabin of the 2018 Ford Edge is comfortable and attractive, and it’s dominated by a clean, multi-layered dashboard. Owners can order the Edge with a two-tone interior for an especially high-end look. Cargo room is generous, and the Edge has 39.2 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 73.4 when the rear seatbacks are folded.
Base models are equipped with air conditioning, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, cloth upholstery and a 60/40-split second-row bench seat that folds and reclines. The list of optional features includes heated and cooled 10-way power-adjustable front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery and automatic dual-zone climate control.
A strong engine lineup is a key asset of the 2018 Ford Edge. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
There are three engine choices. The standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is turbocharged to produce 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. A naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 raises output to 280 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the performance leader is the Sport trim’s 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 that dials up 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Sport models come with a specially tuned suspension.
The Edge can tow up to 3,500 pounds, and it achieves mileage of up to 21/29 mpg city/highway.
The entry-level Edge comes with a rearview camera, an audio input jack, Bluetooth connectivity, a 4.2-inch display and six audio speakers. This base model relies on a previous-generation version of Ford’s infotainment interface.
Optional features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, an upgraded infotainment interface, a self-parking system, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, inflatable outboard seatbelts, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, satellite radio, an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration and a 12-speaker sound system.

User Reviews for 2018 Ford Edge
by Madeleine Edwards on January 13, 2020
"It is a very nice car, mine has all the bells and whistles. I can't think of anything else I would want in this car. It's smooth for a crossover, not too much road noise, sound system is great, and the gas mileage is OK, and I only say OK because I have a turbo and I use it a lot."
I have a turbo and don't lack power.
Lots of room inside, even the back seat is spacious.
"We have the Titanium Edge which comes with leather seats and upgrade. The car is comfortable andrides and handles very well. It is a perfect size for us....big enough to be roomy, but small enough to easily maneuver."
"I like my Edge-rides comfortably, nice features. AWD is great when I need it. No mechanical or dealer problems. I just like a "beefier" vehicle, like my previous Explorer. The Edge rides MUCH better and does the same job though.
But.Don't like location of front cupholders-they're right behind the shifter. Poor design there. The rear window wiper feature is weird. It's on the stalk with the front wipers, but is located in a position that allows you to inadvertently turn them on.

so far so good
"Rides nice. Quiet. Still trying to get used to all the electronic gadgets!
"Have only had for two months. Car responds well and has short turning radius. For shorter people the visibility is great. Brakes are very responsive. Some difficulty reading speedometer. Backup camera is very helpful."
Seats that wrap around you. Many outlets for electronic devices. Many storage areas.
Very attractive styling. Like the vinyl along bottom where stone chips would harm the finish. Like the hands free opening of back hatch.
Does not seem to have real quick acceleration but engine is smooth running and eight speed transmission shifts smoothly.
Has safety features to protect young riders.
Purchased from a dealer. Was I initially used as a rental car. Mileage was a little high for a 2018 which was reflected in the price. The price made it affordable for us.
"This is a great mid sized SUV which has more interior room than a comparable Lincoln MKX. The gas mileage is great I had gone from Fayetteville, NC to Delaware on a single tank. Te ride is fantastic and very comfortable with very little to no outside noises while driving. The Sync 3 system works great once you get use to using it and don't forget to Bluetooth your phone. "
Comfort and roomy with plenty of amenities
Nice looking kind of manly but also classy
Great on the take off getting on the highways and very good on gass
Had five family members and a full load in the rear everyone was very comfortable on a long road trip.
"The only gripe I have is that Ford doesn't offer the larger infotainment screen as standard equipment on all levels of the SEL model. Otherwise, it's fit and finish is very good and is very comfortable on a long trip."
Excellent fit and finish, comfortable seats. Lots of storage for items. The USB port could be more accessible.
Very good fit and finish. Roof rack useless if you don't need it.
Not going to win many drag races, but more than adequate in traffic and at highway speeds.
Plenty of rear storage for luggage and seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room.
No better or worse than other vehicles I've owned.
"I rented this make and model (2018 Edge Titanium) and my family was so happy with it we determined to purchase one. I looked all over a 100 mile area for this car. It was worth the effort. I am retiring and plan to drive this car for a long time to come."
Entertainment system with Android Auto; Power driver and passenger seats with lumbar support
"Great technology & Navigation system. Love the performance, its quick. The safety features are very helpful for driving. Its like have a spotter always looking out for you. The camera for front view is helpful for parking."
"Seats heated, comfortable and 10 position adjust to any size person. Back seat room and comfort. Drives great. Safety factors are a plus. MPG fair and easy to monitor. Gas fill in drivers side and convenient. "
