SUVs don’t usually offer you the opportunity to enjoy open-air driving, but the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque provides a convertible model that facilitates top-down thrills. Whether you choose the convertible or the fixed-roof model, the Range Rover Evoque delivers handsome styling, a refined driving experience and the ruggedness to hold its own in off-road environments.
The 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a subcompact luxury SUV that’s sold in two body styles. There’s a two-door convertible that seats four passengers, and there’s a four-door fixed-roof variant that seats five. Four-door models come in SE, SE Premium, Landmark Edition, HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography trims. Convertibles are sold in two trims: SE Dynamic and HSE Dynamic. Four-wheel drive is standard across the lineup.
For 2018, the Range Rover Evoque makes changes to its engine roster. Last year’s base engine is replaced with a 237-horsepower four-cylinder powerplant, and an optional 286-horsepower engine joins the lineup.
The Range Rover Evoque’s sheet metal looks solid and assertive, with blocky design and sporty accents. In front, a slim grille overlooks a tall bumper with intricate cutouts. The SUV’s profile spotlights chiseled side panels and a fashionably high beltline.
Base models are equipped with 18-inch wheels, heated power-adjustable side mirrors with approach and puddle lights, body-colored mirror caps, automatic halogen headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Auto-dimming side mirrors are standard on convertibles and optional on fixed-roof models. Both body styles are available with xenon headlights, adaptive LED headlights, front foglights, black mirror caps, larger wheels and a variety of grille designs. A panoramic sunroof and a hands-free tailgate are optional on fixed-roof models.
Within the Range Rover Evoque’s cabin, passengers enjoy the same blocky aesthetic seen with the SUV’s sheet metal. Materials quality is impressive, and the overall look is upscale. With two-door models, some effort is required to access the back seats. Four-door models offer 20.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place and 51 cubic feet with these seats lowered. Convertibles provide 8.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.
Standard features include leather upholstery, 12-way power-adjustable front seats, a manually adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column, aluminum interior accents, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and ambient interior lighting. The list of options across both body styles includes perforated leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel and heated and cooled front seats.
With fixed-roof models, 60/40-split folding rear seats are standard, and heated rear seats and front seats with a massage feature are available.
Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque feels refined and energetic in city driving, and its standard four-wheel drive helps it deliver solid performance off-road. In all models, gears are shifted by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The standard powerplant is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine good for 237 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a second turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine available, and it delivers 286 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The Range Rover Evoque can tow up to 3,968 pounds, and it has an EPA rating of up to 22/29 mpg city/highway.
With the 2018 Range Rover Evoque, you get a satisfying assortment of tech features. Base models in both body styles come with front and rear parking sensors, navigation, a rearview camera and Bluetooth phone and streaming audio. An 8-inch touch screen and an eight-speaker sound system are standard in fixed-roof models. Convertibles come with a 10-inch touch screen and a 10-speaker Meridian sound system,
Options include a surround-view camera, a self-parking system, a blind-spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, forward-collision mitigation, a driver drowsiness monitor, traffic sign recognition and a head-up display. A Wi-Fi hotspot is optional on fixed-roof models and standard on convertibles.

User Reviews for 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Still remains with the dealership
"The Rover is basic, I think I'm paying for the name mostly. I had more features on my 2009 Lincoln MKS. There is no CD player, no remote start, I'm still checking for heat and cool seats. It does provide a smooth ride."
