If you’re looking for a larger vehicle with uplevel comfort and mainstream pricing, consider the 2019 Buick Enclave. The Enclave also offers many advanced technologies. They include cutting-edge connectivity and popular driver-assistance measures. For capability, Buick provides all-wheel drive and competitive towing power.
The 2019 Buick Enclave is a midsize SUV. It comes standard with three rows of seating and room for seven people. This year’s trim levels are the Preferred, Essence, Premium and Avenir. The standard powertrain for the Enclave relies on a V6 engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional for some trims.
The Preferred model is a new choice for 2019.
Long flowing lines create a surprisingly sleek look for the Enclave. The vehicle’s front end emphasizes that appearance with sophisticated details. Among them are swept-back signature headlights, prominent parking-lamp pockets and eye-catching grille wings on each side of the Buick badge. The back of the Enclave is set off by dramatic rear roof pillars and low-profile wraparound taillights. The Avenir trim is distinguished by an exclusive grille design and other model-specific style cues.
Showing off its upscale appeal, the Enclave has a high-end standard lighting package. That includes LEDs for the headlamps, front parking lamps, daytime running lights and side-marker lamps. The entry model also gets a standard hands-free power tailgate, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Popular upgrades range from 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels to power-folding mirrors. A dual-panel moonroof is optional. Here, a power front panel complements a fixed glass pane over the rear passengers.
Expressive flowing lines make an impact inside, too. That’s especially obvious with the vehicle’s dashboard. It includes a stylized parallelogram shape for the infotainment screen and center climate vents. The second row is configured with 40/40-split captain’s chairs with armrests. For the third row, a 60/40-split bench is standard. The final row also has a standard power-folding function for Premium and Avenir trims. With all rear seats out of the way, the total cargo capacity for the Enclave is 97.6 cubic feet. The slightly smaller 2019 Ford Explorer checks in with a maximum cargo capacity of 81.7 cubic feet.
The entry-level trim brings cloth upholstery, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, tri-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. The upper trims can supply a nice assortment of content. They offer perforated-leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats and a heated steering wheel with a power-adjustable column. A real-wood steering-wheel accent is one of the luxury touches reserved for the Avenir model.
A 3.6-liter V6 is standard for the 2019 Buick Enclave. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, which is enough for a 5,000-pound towing capacity. A nine-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard for all Enclave trim levels. The Premium and Avenir models offer all-wheel drive with a twin-clutch rear differential. With the Avenir, an upgraded suspension with continuously variable damping is available.
The 2019 Buick Enclave earns standard EPA ratings of 18/26 mpg city/highway.
A backup camera and rear parking sensors are standard for the 2019 Enclave. The standard infotainment system bundles an 8-inch touch screen, mobile Wi-Fi, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB ports, an auxiliary input jack and six speakers.
A comprehensive array of safety technology also is available. Leading the way are adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, a blind spot monitor, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround vision camera, front parking sensors and a rearview camera. Available infotainment content includes a navigation system, a 10-speaker Bose audio system and wireless smartphone charging.
