Taking its design inspiration from contemporary SUVs, the 2019 Kia Sedona combines a rugged presence and impressive practicality. But Kia can keep things comfortable, too, with the Sedona’s high-end seating features. Advanced technologies can give you extra confidence behind the wheel. They can also help your passengers stay busy on the ride.
The Sedona is a minivan that comes standard with three rows of seats for seven people. Seating for eight is optional. There are four trim levels for the 2019 Sedona: L, LX, EX and SX. A V6 engine is standard with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Beyond its transmission, the Sedona benefits from a refreshed design for 2019. The Sedona’s optional rear-seat entertainment system has been upgraded as well, switching from a single drop-down screen to two individual headrest-mounted displays.
A big, bold grille and sporty front sculpting create a ferocious-looking face for the Sedona. To establish a tough stance, the Sedona also flexes muscular fenders. The blacked-out roof pillars and short rear windows add sophisticated modern flair.
Kia provides standard features such as automatic projector headlights, positioning lights, an LED high-mounted rear stop lamp, manually sliding side doors, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and power mirrors with built-in turn signals.
The Sedona offers options including adaptive LED headlights, LED positioning lights, LED taillights, a sunroof, power sliding doors, a hands-free tailgate, heated power-folding mirrors and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
You’ll sense a driver-focused vibe in the Sedona’s dashboard, where the instrument panel and infotainment display are side-by-side and wrapped in the same frame.
The rest of the roomy cabin includes two individual second-row seats and a 60/40-split folding bench in the third row. With all seats occupied, the Sedona has 33.9 cubic feet of cargo space. You can expand that to 78.4 cubic feet by folding the third row into the floor. If you also tumble and slide the second row forward, the Sedona provides a cargo capacity of 142 cubic feet.
Stain-resistant cloth upholstery is standard with manually adjustable front seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column and a multifunction steering wheel.
The Sedona offers a catalog of optional features including leather upholstery, climate-controlled front seats, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, reclining lounge-style second-row seats with footrests, and a removable second-row jump seat for the center position.
Other comfort options include tri-zone automatic climate control and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The Sedona’s standard 3.3-liter V6 produces 276 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are also standard. That powertrain enables you to tow up to 3,500 pounds when the Sedona is properly equipped.
Kia’s minivan has EPA ratings of 18/24 mpg city/highway. It also delivers a comfortable ride and enough pep for confident daily driving.
The 2019 Sedona is equipped with standard technologies including a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, an auxiliary input jack, a four-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Kia offers tech options including wireless charging, an 8-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, satellite radio, additional USB ports, two tweeter speakers and a separate eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The Sedona’s optional rear-seat entertainment system features smartphone mirroring that allows passengers to stream Internet content on the system’s dual 10.1-inch screens.
The Sedona also has a standard rearview camera.
Optional driver-assistance technologies include adaptive cruise control, automatic forward emergency braking, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, a driver attention monitor, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and front and rear parking sensors.
