Praised for its exceptional handling, the 2019 Porsche 911 is one of the finest sports cars on the market. The 911 treats passengers to a stylish cabin, and its long list of optional features delivers endless possibilities for customization.
The 2019 Porsche 911 is a luxury sports car that can be configured to seat two or four passengers. It’s sold as either a coupe or convertible, and convertibles come with either a soft top (Cabriolet) or retractable roof (Targa). Both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive are offered.
Buyers can choose from a multitude of trim levels: Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4 (all-wheel-drive models bear the “4” descriptor), Carrera 4S, Targa 4, Targa 4S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S. Porsche also offers four trims designed for the track: Carrera T, GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 RS.
For the 2019 model year, Porsche adds the GT3 RS trim level to the 911’s lineup.
With its muscular haunches, oval headlights and long hood, the 911’s exterior design is both modern and classic. The car’s profile is fluid and graceful, with a rounded roofline flowing seamlessly into a blunt tail end.
Base models come with heated power-adjustable side mirrors, 19-inch wheels, daytime running lights and automatic xenon headlights. The list of optional equipment includes adaptive LED headlights, 20-inch wheels, black door handles, power-folding side mirrors, a carbon-fiber rear wing and a roof transport system. Coupes are available with an optional sunroof.
The 911’s cabin melds luxury with performance-themed design cues. With its symmetrical lines and winged air vents, the center stack looks like something out of a fighter jet. Premium materials are used throughout, and this heightens the deluxe look of the car’s interior.
Since it has a rear-mounted engine, the 911’s trunk is situated under the hood. It provides up to 5.1 cubic feet of cargo space.
Standard equipment on the entry-level trim includes a four-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather upholstery, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column and dual-zone automatic climate control. The range of optional features includes a steering wheel wrapped in simulated suede, extended leather upholstery, aluminum pedals, a heated steering wheel, illuminated carbon-fiber door sills, heated front seats and seat belts in designer colors.
Memorable performance is part of the package with the 2019 Porsche 911, and its thunderous acceleration is complemented by its keen reflexes. Three transmissions are offered: a six-speed manual, a seven-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Rear-wheel drive is standard. For those who need extra traction, an optional all-wheel-drive system sends power to the front and rear wheels.
There are almost as many engine choices as there are trim levels.
Base Porsche 911 Carerra models come with a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine good for 370 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. The 911 Turbo is motivated by a 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six that generates 540 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque.
With the 911 GT3, you get a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine good for 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. The most potent engine in the range is found in the 911 GTS RS. This model features a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six that generates 700 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
Additionally, 911 Carrera S, GTS, Turbo S and GT3 RS models get unique engines.
The 911 is available with rear-wheel steering. This feature improves agility, and it can help make the car more maneuverable when it’s being parked. This Porsche is also available with a Drive Mode feature that allows you to customize the car’s performance. Also, an optional Sport Chrono package brings in sportier engine and transmission tuning, along with features such as launch control.
According to the EPA, the 2019 Porsche 911 achieves fuel economy of up to 22/30 mpg city/highway.
Porsche has equipped the 911 with a competitive range of tech amenities. Base models come with Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, parking sensors, a rearview camera, navigation, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, an eight-speaker audio system, a CD player, a Wi-Fi hotspot and satellite radio.
A 12-speaker Bose stereo and a 12-speaker Burmester audio system are available. Also, you can equip your 911 with optional active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot warning system, automatic emergency braking and a forward collision warning system.

"This is the second 911 I’ve owned and I’ve not been disappointed by either, especially this one. Performance and handling is everything I had hoped for and more. Other than normal maintenance, it has not been in the shop once. "
Roomy compared to earlier models. Well appointed.
Beautifully put together.
Depends on the size of your family. Two? Perfect! More than two? Nope.
This is not why you would buy such a vehicle. Is it worth the price? That is a personal decision. It does what I wanted it to do and I went into the purchase eyes open.
