The 2020 Cadillac Escalade is one of the more recognizable full-size SUVs on the road due in large part to its oversized chrome grille, chrome detailing and full LED Light Blade taillamps. The cabin is spacious and includes an array of standard comfort features. The Escalade is equipped with a powerful engine with advanced suspension and controls.
The Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV that seats up to 8 people and has 94.2 cubic feet of cargo space. It’s available in two wheelbases: 116 inches and 130 inches. The long-wheelbase Escalade is called the ESV. Both body styles are available in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Platinum trims. A V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission are standard. Every Escalade comes standard with rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is available. GM only made minor changes to this model year Escalade.
Big, bold and decked out with chrome, the Escalade is the epitome of a luxury vehicle. The front end is dominated by an imposing grille that’s in the shape of a crest with five prominent horizontal slats. Thin LED headlights are oriented vertically, highlighting the Escalade’s height and tall hood line. From the side, the SUV looks like a rectangular block on wheels. The rear end has taillights that start from the top of the roof and connect with the top of the rear bumper.
Standard exterior features include full LED headlights, heated exterior mirrors, 20-inch wheels, hidden rain-sensing windshield wipers and a hands-free liftgate. A sunroof, 22-inch wheels and power-retractable assist steps are available for the 2020 model year.
The Escalade has a spacious interior with ample headroom, legroom, shoulder room and hip room in the first two rows of seating. In the base Escalade, the third row can be tight for taller passengers. The Escalade ESV is roomier. High-end materials blend in with a heavy-duty, truck-like design, as the Escalade’s truck roots show in its column shifter and simplistic dashboard design.
Cargo capacity in the regular Escalade measures in at 15.2 cubic feet behind the third row. With the third row folded, there’s 51.6 cubic feet of cargo space. In total, the Escalade has 94.2 cubic feet of cargo space. The Escalade ESV adds more cargo space in all three rows. There’s 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 76.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and a total of 120.9 cubic feet of space.
Adjustable pedals, leather seats, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, tri-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column are standard. Power-release second-row seats, wood trim, a cooled front console compartment and front seats with massage are available.
The Escalade is all about power. It is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard. Four-wheel drive is available.
Towing capacity is 8,100 lbs.
Fuel economy is EPA-rated to get up to 14/23 mpg city/highway.
