Chevrolet Spark Reviews

Overview
It’s one of the most affordable new cars on the market, but the Chevrolet Spark has more going for it than just a low price tag. This pint-sized hauler wins you over with its excellent fuel economy, and it offers a broad range of available features.
2016 to Present: Chevrolet Spark
The Spark is currently in its second generation, which was launched in the 2016 model year. A tiny footprint helps make the Spark a superb city car. And as far as amenities are concerned, this Chevy can be equipped with features that are typically found solely on cars with steeper price tags.
The Chevrolet Spark is a subcompact four-door hatchback that seats four passengers. A 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine lives under the hood, and power is sent to the front wheels. The Spark can be equipped with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The Chevy Spark’s sheet metal gives it an upbeat, fun-loving look. In front, upswept headlights flank an open-mouthed grille. The car’s profile shows off crisp character lines and attractive sculpting.
The Spark’s cabin features cheerful design elements that mimic the look of the exterior. The front seats provide pleasant accommodations, but other models in this segment offer more rear-seat legroom. Also, the Spark trails rival hatchbacks when it comes to cargo capacity.
With its petite dimensions, the Spark is purpose-built for gliding in and out of tight parking spaces. Other models have more powerful engines, but the Spark impresses with its pleasant road manners. It also shines as one of the most fuel-efficient choices in its class.
Base models come with features such as air conditioning, power windows and a tilt-adjustable steering column. There’s also a standard 60/40-split folding rear seat on hand for expanding the Spark’s cargo capacity. The list of standard tech features is truly impressive for a car at this price point. All models are equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration.
The list of optional equipment includes exterior features like foglights and power-adjustable side mirrors. You can also upgrade the Spark with driver-assistance features such a forward collision mitigation system and a lane-departure warning system.
Chevy’s second-generation Spark received updates in the 2019 model year. Its front fascia was revised, and there were also upgrades made to its infotainment system.
The Spark competes with subcompact cars like the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio and Ford Fiesta. Modern tech and safety features make the Spark worthy of consideration.
Earlier Spark Models
Chevrolet introduced the Spark with the 2013 model, and the first generation ran through the 2015 model year. When it was introduced, the Spark came with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. A 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine lives under the hood.
In 2014, a CVT replaced the four-speed automatic. The following year, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot joined the list of standard equipment. This feature provides online connectivity for up to seven mobile devices.
